What to ask before you come
Camping is arranged with the hosts, so a few questions up front save surprises. Ask whether you should bring your own tent or whether one can be provided, where you would pitch, which bathroom you would use, and whether meals are part of the arrangement. Ask about the price too, as it may differ from a room.
If you are travelling as a group, say how many people and tents to expect. Coco and Leo may come to inspect your camp. Greet them gently, let them come to you, and keep food zipped away inside your bags.
Choosing your season
Autumn, from around October to November, is usually the most settled time for a tent in the hills, with drier ground and clearer nights. Winter nights in Palpa can be cold, so a warm sleeping bag matters from December to February. Spring is milder, though late spring can bring storms.
The monsoon, roughly June to September, brings heavy rain and wet ground. Most campers will be happier in a room then. Our guide to Tansen weather by season explains what each month tends to bring.
What to pack
Bring a sleeping bag rated for the season, a sleeping mat, a head torch and a warm layer for the evening. Dew can settle on the grass overnight, so keep shoes and bags inside the tent. Earplugs help light sleepers, because the rooster rises early and does not keep it to himself.
Camping pairs well with a fire and a clear sky. Read about bonfires and stargazing at Bulbul, then send your request from the stay page.
